Stage Five

Build Your Legacy

Congratulations!

You Built the Company. Now Build Your Options.

The systems are running. The leaders are leading.

The business is no longer held together by you being in the room every day.

But there is a difference between a company that can operate without you and one that is genuinely built to survive beyond your tenure: valuable, transferable, and strong enough to be kept, grown, passed down, or sold on your terms.

Stage 5 is about closing that gap.

Let's build a legacy!

What You Are Trying to Build

A company that does not depend on you personally.

Not only operationally — but financially and structurally.

Leadership depth. Dependable reporting. Transferable systems. Healthy margins. Durable cash flow. A customer base that does not put the entire company at risk if one account walks.

At this stage the questions get larger:

  • What is this company actually worth — and to whom?

  • Is the leadership team strong enough to run it without me?

  • Is too much revenue sitting with too few customers?

  • Are the financials, margins and cash flow strong enough for what I want to do next?

  • Do we have enough EBITDA and recurring revenue?

  • What would a clean sale, internal transfer, or family transition actually require?

These decisions are too consequential to handle through guesswork or scattered conversations.

What Must Be Accomplished at Stage 5

Stage 5 is not complete because you received a valuation, named a successor, or decided you may sell someday. It is complete when the company has been deliberately strengthened so that you can keep it, grow it, transfer it, or sell it without having to rebuild the business under pressure first.

That means proving that the company can operate without depending on your personal relationships, memory, decisions, or daily involvement. It also means correcting the issues that weaken value or limit your choices—thin leadership, unreliable financials, undocumented knowledge, weak margins, unstable cash flow, or too much revenue tied to one customer.

Stage 5 is ongoing, but can be considered substantially accomplished when:

  • Leadership depth beyond one indispensable person — including you

  • Financial reporting that is reliable and can withstand outside scrutiny

  • Documented systems and institutional knowledge that transfer with the business

  • Margins and cash flow strong enough to support long-term decisions

  • A customer and revenue base that is not dangerously concentrated

  • A clear understanding of what drives or reduces company value

  • A realistic plan to keep, grow, transfer, or sell

  • The ability to make that decision from strength, not urgency

One day you will leave this company - either by choice or by circumstance.

Now is the time to plan for that day and take care of your family and employees.

FOR STAGES 4 & 5

Special Projects and Triage Advisory Services

At this stage you likely have in-house finance and operations leaders. While they can handle the day-to-day and even strategic work, sometimes those same leaders are not able to step back and see larger organizational issues.

An executive problem-solving engagement is concentrated, short-term, senior-level focused consulting for one high-stakes business issue.

Some challenges are too large, too complex, or too consequential to address as one item on an ongoing advisory agenda.

A division growing but losing money. A leadership structure that no longer fits the company. A succession decision that has been delayed too long. An acquisition with a short window. Margins that have deteriorated and nobody can clearly explain why.

An Executive Problem-Solving Engagement is a focused six- to eight-week project built around one significant financial, operational, leadership, or ownership problem.

We define the problem clearly and agree on what a successful outcome looks like before the engagement begins. Then we diagnose what is actually driving it — because the presenting problem is rarely the whole story. We meet weekly to work through findings, test assumptions, and make decisions. At the end of the engagement, you have documented conclusions, assigned responsibilities, and a practical 90-day execution plan.

The problem may not be fully resolved in six to eight weeks. Some issues require longer to implement. What you will have is a clear diagnosis, the key decisions made, and a concrete plan that the right people own.

This is not general coaching. It is a mix of operational advisory, CFO-level analysis, and change management consulting all rolled into one engagement.

It is disciplined, executive-level problem solving from someone who has operated inside a growing MEP company and served as a management consultant at one of the largest firms in the country. We go beyond school-taught theory, and know that the answer has to work with the real business, its real people, real cash constraints, and real leaders who still have a company to run while the problem gets solved.

Starting at $12,000/mo for a six- to eight-week engagement. Does not include travel.

Complex problems involving acquisitions, multiple entities, or ownership transitions are custom scoped.
